FORD SIGNS WITH VIRGINIA WESLEYAN

'little Magic'
His movements are flawless and his demeaner never changes, if J.E.B. Stuart Guard Tre Ford were a drink, he would simply be a smoothie. According to his High School coach, who privately refers to him as "Little Magic," believes that ford has all the tools to be a successful player at the next level
"I have been coaching this young man since he was eight years old and I have never seen him overmatched. He has a great feel for the game and knows exactly what his team needs and when they need it" He spent the early part of his career setting the table for others to score, but he showed during his senior season that he can be a scorer if the situation presented itself".
Although coach Harris says Fords demeaner never changes on the court, it does change off of the court. Especially when he realized that the would be living his dream of playing college basketball. First things first, he spreads the great news to his family and then he calls his coach to let him know that the deal is done. Why his coach? well because "coach Tony" has been his coach since he was eight years old, and since day one he constantly reminded the diminutive point guard that, "to increase your chances of being successful and reaching your dreams, you have to work hard and make sound decisions, and even then it will require some good fortune and luck.
.
If William (Tre) Ford III were a college, he would be Virginia Wesleyen College. Alot like Ford, Virginia Wesleyen is quited small, yet despite its size and small enrollment (aproximately 1500 students), very successful. The Marlins won the NCAA DIII national championship in 2006, was the NCAA runner up in 2007, have made 8 NCAA tournament appearances, and made it to the conference championship again this past season.
fact: finding a college that fits your personality is the key to being a successful college athlete and this seems to be a good fit for Ford. For starters, the starting point guard position is wide open, so he will have an oppurtunity to contribute right away. He fully understands that he will be tested due to his size and also because he is the new kid on the block. However, Ford seems be ready for all challenges and simply plans to let his game do the talking for him.
To prepare himself for the rigors of college basketball, ford is working out with a personal trainer 3 times a week and preparing to add strength and conditioning to his daily regimen. Not that the recent offer has changed his schedule, basically he is just constantly upgrading the workout schedule that he started when he was eight.
It seems that Ford has put in a lot of work to make it to the college level and no one seems more proud of that acheivement than Ford himself. He enjoys his time with his former teammates and family members when he is away from the court. He trash talks cousin and back court mate Antonio Harris Jr endlessly as they engage in a one on one game after a recent workout. But he is the first to admit that no matter how hard he works it wont ever be enough. Atleast not as far as Coach Tony Harris is concerned.
"Here At J.E.B. Stuart we stress family first, and everything else second, tre has been making all the right choices to get where he is today, and whenever he waived or veered off course there was always someone there to help him get back on track, and as a coach you are humbled when a player appreciates and recognizes your contribution. But no matter how proud I am of my players, I will never stop pushing them. I will always demand more than they feel they are able to give...
Ford seems to be moving in the right direction, and seems to have the right support to stay humble and succeed, but dont try and tell him that, because he knows that you never stop working hard, you always have to make sound decision and you need a little luck to climb those huge mountains...But according to coach Harris, " It certainly doesnt hurt to have a "little magic" on your side as well.
